What is Shiatsu Therapy-Massage?
Shiatsu is a traditional hands-on therapy originating in Japan and means ‘finger pressure’.
The principles of Shiatsu are rooted in the traditions of oriental medicine using similar energy channels and points as acupuncture, but using touch, pressure, stretching and mobilisation techniques.
Shiatsu is a physical therapy that supports and strengthens the body’s natural ability to heal and balance itself.
Shiatsu works on the whole person - not just a physical body, but also a psychological, emotional and spiritual being. It is a natural way to help relax and cope with issues such as stress, muscle pain and sports injuries.
Regular treatments maintain health and well-being.

What happens in a Shiatsu Therapy-Massage session?
Shiatsu treatments are tailored to each individual client and last approximately an hour.
Each treatment session begins with a consultation, to discuss lifestyle and symptoms in order to gain a full picture of any possible issues, your treatment will be appropriate to your needs, constitution and energy levels.
The treatment will take place on a futon (floor mat) although it is possible to receive Shiatsu seated or on a treatment couch.
You remain fully clothed at all times. Please ensure that you are wearing clean loose comfortable clothing (e.g. sweatshirt, tracksuit trousers and cotton socks)
I use a variety of techniques to improve your energy flow. These may include gentle holding, pressing with palms, thumbs, fingers, elbows, knees and feet on the meridians and, when appropriate, more dynamic rotations and stretches.
